“Love is progressive, Love is a process, and Love came down.”
Pastor Selena started the second week of our Christmas series, Love Came Down, this past Sunday with a verse from 1 John 5:3 - “Loving God means keeping His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.”
Through any relationship, including the one with Jesus, the love becomes greater the longer we strive to be a part it and grow through it. The love between us and Christ is a marriage relationship. It is a constant process of loving Him so much that obeying His commandments is a delight to us.
Luke 3:36-38 (MSG) states, “ ‘ Nothing, you see, is impossible with God.’ And Mary said, ‘Yes, I see it all now: I’m the Lord’s maid, ready to serve. Let it be with me just as you say.’”
Let it be! Loving God is a process of living in His presence trusting His promises, walking in His power and obeying His precepts and prompts. Mary, by doing these things and trusting in Him, then went on to birth the Son of God that allowed for His love to come down to earth so that we could experience how He loves us. How amazing is that?
1 John 2:3-5 - We do not obey God’s commandments out of fear, but out of love for Christ. Only the enemy has come to condemn you, when God is speaking to you, you know it is Him by the way He calls us my beloved. We must be living in His truth, to truly live in His presence. God shows us through love and conviction how we can love Him just as much as He loves us.
Where I am today, is nowhere near where God wants me to be tomorrow, next week, or next year. He teaches us through love, and if you do not experience his loving conviction, you do not know Him.
We must live in His presence to trust His promises, 1 John 4:9-11, responding to the love He has shown us, you will walk in His power, 1 John 4: 13-16, and obeying His precepts and prompts allows for our love to grow and reinforce the relationship between us and God, 1 John 4:17.
So, let it be! We love because He first loved us. Live in His presence. Trust in His promises. Walk in His power and Obey His precepts and promises.
To know Him, His holy presence, and His love for you is to love Him!
And who doesn't love “love”, right?
