What a glorious day to worship in the house of the Lord. Today, March 17th was the first day services were held at our north campus. The building was all decked out, the parking lot was full, the “pews” were filled; but more importantly, the Lord’s mighty presence was felt.
The sermon series “Enlarge” is so appropriate as The Well has literally outgrown its space multiple times creating additional services and now an additional building. Using the scripture passage, Isaiah 54:2, we look at the prophesy of enlarging the tent – in our specific case, enlarging our church facilities for the purpose of His kingdom. However, Pastor Selena pointed out with the promise there is a process. The process has been one filled with many steps and questions along the way.
In the Promise the processes involved were to:
1. Enlarge the kingdom. We must look past our “smallness” and look at the bigger picture
2. Stretch the kingdom. As followers we must stretch our boundaries, our resources and our faith to ensure that All people feel welcomed as then pass through the doors of the Well. We must get out of or comfort zone.
3. Lengthen up the reach. Isaiah 54:2 refers to the church as a tent. As we stretch the tent fabric, we must lengthen the ropes that support the tent. This process allows more room for those to come and worship.
4. Strengthen our foundation. Our church must hold steadfast. If the church is planted with deep stakes, the foundation will hold, and the church will grow steadfastly upward on that firm foundation. A strong church built on the foundation of Jesus Christ will raise strong disciples who will meet the continuous challenges of the world.
Enlarge, stretch, lengthen and strengthen are all verbs. They require action. They require insight and love. They require prayerful intervention. These words are reflective of our Christian faith. We have work to do!
