Being the last sermon of our series, Pastor Dylan encouraged us to think of the friendships the Lord has brought to us and to strive for more, through others who may not be walking with God. As disciples, we just can’t help but to talk about Jesus. His love and friendship, is the greatest of all and that is something to shout from the rooftops!
One Godly friend can lead to more Godly friends. Sunday’s main focus intertwined with the idea of dominos: not the actual game, but with setting them up in the perfect pattern to get a rad falling effect.
“When we befriend someone they will begin to befriend others, and the friend effect will begin.”
What came up in my mind was the idea of paying it forward. Being apart of The Well is no accident for me and my journey with Christ. I was invited and blessed with the opportunity to make it a home. Because of a friend, I can surround myself and grow within Godly friendships and I can effect others to become one with the Lord as well.
Through others is how the love of Christ appears. Pastor Dylan gave us snippets of advice from God’s word, to inspire us to make those Godly friendships happen.
Engage • Isolation from others creates a barrier (1 John 4: 7-8)
Encourage • Be confident in who God called you to be (1 Thessalonians 5: 11)
Empathize • Walk it out with them (1 Peter 3: 8-9)
Exempt • The moment you forget to put on a fruitful attitude/ the love of God you’ll realize- you don't have it (Colossians 3: 12-14)
Explain • Saying and believing it starts with me (1 Peter 3: 13-16)
I can be the one to lead others to the Lord through one of the most powerful gift/experience, friendship. In this society of today’s world, you may never know who you need and who needs you. Allow for God to build strong bonds between Him and yourself and through the friends surrounding you. Pay it forward to create an array of God’s love all over the place.
